Sony Bravia Eco Friendly
Lower your electricity bills and watch your new HD TV with a clean conscience thanks to a new innovation from Sony Bravia.
The WE5 from Sony Bravia features the first ever microtubular HCFL backlight. This tehnical innovation halves the power consumption of a normal Sony LCD TV. A 50% reduction is quite a saving for you and the environment!
But the WE5 doesn’t stop there. It also comes with Sony’s intelligent Presence Sensor. This sensor detects movement and body heat. As if by magic, the sensor will know when you leave the room and will switch into ‘Picture Off’ mode but leave the audio running.
When you come back into the room the Presence Sensor will detect you, and turn the picture back on.
As you’re probably aware a normal TV will consume power even when it’s on Standby. But the WE5 is no ordinary TV. You can flick the Energy Saving Switch and the TV will turn off completely – consuming almost no power at all. When the TV fires back up it will return to it’s previous state. So, there’s no longer any need to be constantly plugging and unplugging your TV to save the environment.
The Sony Bravia WE5 range takes even more steps to reduce the amount of power you’re using. A sensor detects the lighting in the room and adjusts the backlight automatically. There also a power saving function which cuts down the illumination from the backlight, which means you can still watch in comfort when the ambient lighting is dim.
The WE5 really is a leap forward in ecological and economical HD TV viewing.
How Sony’s first green TV maintains superb picture quality.
The WE5 series from Sony is available in two screen size – 40” and 46”. Both offer an extraordinary picture quality.
The Sony Bravia Engine 3 combines with the 1080p LCD TV panel to create a stunning image with greater colour range and contrast. The Engine also reduces picture noise. Images appear smoother and sharper thanks to the Sony Motionflow technology, Image Blur reduction comes into it’s own when you’re viewing action sequences. The difference has to be seen to be believed.
The WE5 really is the trailblazer but the rest of the Bravia range has taken steps to deliver greater efficiency, reduce consumption and conserve energy. A 20%-30% reduction in power consumption is achieved compared to the 2008 Bravia range.
The ‘Flower’ is the EU’s Eco-Label certifying that a product complies with performance and ecological criteria. Most of the 2009 Sony Bravia range display the ‘Flower’.
So you really can watch HD TV in all it’s glory, knowing that you’re not damaging the environment, and your electricity bill isn’t going to reflect the numerous hours you’ve sat glued in front of your new 1080p TV.
